Katherine Lynch is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Music Therapist who specializes in working with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and women's issues who are open to growth and deeper exploration of their inner world. She values creative collaboration and believes that meaningful therapy integrates the mind, body, and spirit. Her approach is especially supportive for clients seeking a safe, trauma-informed space to better understand themselves and create lasting change. Katherine strives to create a therapeutic space grounded in openness, connection, and genuine human presence. Rather than positioning herself as an expert, she shows up as a supportive and attuned partner who adapts to what each client needs in the moment.

Her therapeutic approach is eclectic and integrative, grounded in trauma-informed care and cultural sensitivity. Katherine incorporates Creative Arts Therapy (including Music Therapy), which allows for expression beyond words, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help process and heal from trauma. She also draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to build skills in emotional regulation and distress tolerance, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed practices to support self-understanding, and Somatic Experiencing to address how trauma is held in the body. For clients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), she utilizes Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an evidence-based approach that helps reduce compulsions and build resilience. Together, these modalities support healing across the mind and body, allowing her to tailor care to each individual's needs.

With advanced training in EMDR and DBT, Katherine's work is further informed by training in grief and bereavement, medical trauma, and ERP for OCD. She also has specialized training in Safe Zone (LGBTQ+ affirming care), Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resiliency, Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), Play Therapy, and Understanding Unconscious Bias, reflecting her commitment to trauma-informed, relational, and culturally responsive care. After completing her internship in New York City, she lived and worked on Long Island for several years before settling in upstate New York.

Outside the therapy room, Katherine enjoys spending time with her family, especially her two daughters. She's happiest in the warmer months when she can be outdoors running or swimming. She also enjoys live music and regularly attends concerts, and likes to unwind by singing and playing guitar.

  • Trauma-Informed, Whole-Person Approach
Katherine's work is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care, recognizing how past experiences shape the nervous system, relationships, and sense of self. She integrates mind-body approaches to support healing that feels safe, paced, and empowering. Her goal is to help clients come to know themselves more deeply, build self-trust, and feel empowered to move toward the lives they want.

  • Creative and Experiential Therapies
As a music and creative arts therapist, Katherine offers alternative pathways to expression and processing that go beyond words. This can be especially powerful for trauma, anxiety, and clients who feel stuck in traditional talk therapy. She views therapy as a collaborative journey, where she walks alongside clients, offering reflection, insight, and guidance while honoring that they already hold the answers within.

  • Culturally Sensitive and Client-Centered Care
Katherine prioritizes cultural awareness, inclusivity, and humility in her work. She strives to create a space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood in the context of their identities and lived experiences. Her specialized training in Safe Zone (LGBTQ+ affirming care) and Understanding Unconscious Bias reflects her commitment to creating truly inclusive therapeutic spaces.

"I strive to create a therapeutic space grounded in openness, connection, and genuine human presence. Rather than positioning myself as an expert, I show up as a supportive and attuned partner who adapts to what each client needs in the moment. My hope is that clients leave our work together feeling more empowered, more connected to themselves, and more confident in their capacity to cope, heal, and grow."
