THE EXPRESSION LAB
Get Loud. Get Messy. Get Moving.
A 6-week creative studio experience for children ages 5–8. Saturdays, 3:00–4:30 PM | May 23 – June 27 | West Islip, NY | Ages 5–8 | Limited to 6 kids
THE WHY
Not every child needs therapy. Every child needs space to express.
Some kids talk through their feelings. Some kids don't have the words yet. Some kids have a lot of words but nowhere to put the noise, the wiggles, or the big stuff inside them.
The Expression Lab is for all of them.
It is a playful, hands-on group where children explore art, music, and movement in ways that feel natural, engaging, and fun. Some weeks, that means painting with their hands. Some weeks, it means drumming, making noise, and laughing with peers. Some weeks, it means moving their bodies and discovering new ways to express what they feel.
Each session offers something new inside a consistent, predictable structure, so every child can show up feeling supported, comfortable, and connected.
WHAT MAKES THIS GROUP DIFFERENT
Creative. Intentional.
Not Clinical.
The Expression Lab is a supportive, non-clinical experience led by creative arts therapists. It is not therapy.
It is something kids do not always get enough of: dedicated, unhurried space to be expressive, messy, loud, and themselves, with adults who actually know how to hold that space.
Thoughtfully designed to support:
Confidence
Social connection
Creative expression
Communication and participation in a group
Showing up as who they are, not who they think they should be

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Parents’ Questions, Answered
-
No. The Expression Lab is a non-clinical creative group, not therapy. It is led by creative arts therapists, which means your child gets the benefit of clinically trained facilitators who know how to hold space for expression, support emotional regulation, and build group connection. If your child needs therapy, we can talk about that separately.
-
Yes. Quiet kids are welcome here. Loud kids are welcome here. There is no pressure to perform, share, or be "good at" anything. Children participate at their own pace inside a consistent structure that helps them feel safe.
-
Also yes. The Lab is built around movement, sound, and hands-on creating, not sitting still. Big feelings and big energy belong in this room.
-
None. The Lab is about the process, not the product.
-
Clothes that can get messy. We are painting, drumming, and moving. Sneakers or bare feet, whatever they are most comfortable in.
-
Yes. Drop-in is $40 per session, based on availability. The full 6-week enrollment is $210 and saves you $30, plus it guarantees your child's spot for the whole series. Building familiarity over the six weeks is part of what makes the experience meaningful, so we recommend the full series when possible.

If they are both within the 5–8 age range, yes. Please register each child separately.
