Jan Mark Casco is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Music Therapist who specializes in working with adults navigating anxiety, identity struggles, purpose, depression, and the deeper parts of generational trauma. He enjoys helping people find a deeper connection with themselves and understand the intricate parts of being human. Jan Mark will listen and encourage you to share anything and everything on your mind, genuinely believing that you have the answer you are looking for within you. He will empower you to seek out those answers and connect with your inner self. You do not have to be a musician or even enjoy engaging in music, but through the trusting relationship you create together, you will be able to better connect to what is ailing you and continue to grow together.

His therapeutic approach integrates music therapy with narrative therapy, motivational interviewing, and talk therapy techniques, grounded in psychoanalytic understanding. Jan Mark has extensive training in Analytical Music Therapy, which he brings to sessions to dive into the deeper parts of you so you can connect to them and find your inner self. He utilizes music therapy and talk therapy techniques to develop that connection, which will provide you with the answers that you are looking for. Having developed most of his career in acute inpatient psychiatry, he has learned to hold space for folks who are extremely dysregulated and disconnected from themselves. Through these experiences, he will help you piece together aspects of your life and your story to help increase self-awareness.

With a Master's level degree in music therapy and psychoanalytic training, Jan Mark understands that music doesn't get in; music is already in. Music simply uncovers what is there, making you feel emotions that you didn't necessarily know you had inside you. Growing up, he was exposed to community-oriented ideologies in a family full of healthcare professionals who spent a lot of time caring for others. Although it took some time to find the field of music therapy, he was excited to feel connected to a former passion while still connected to his goals of wanting to help people. His experiences in music have helped shape who he is today, and the connections through music he holds very dear to his growth as a person.

Outside the therapy room, Jan Mark enjoys spending time outdoors, walking, running, and biking. While he's not particularly drawn to exercise or lifting weights, he dabbles in it. He balances that out with long video game sessions, which he also really enjoys. Most of all, he loves spending time with his dog, Nola, watching her run around and, in her quirky way, get startled by just about everything.

  • Analytical Music Therapy Expertise
Jan Mark has extensive training in Analytical Music Therapy, allowing him to dive into the deeper parts of you so you can connect to them and find your inner self. Music is a bridge between past and present, offering a way to process emotions that words alone cannot reach. To make music is human; we have a steady heartbeat, a sense of rhythm, and always have a multitude of instruments within our bodies at our disposal at any moment.

  • Generational Trauma Specialist
The past has a way of echoing into the present, sometimes in ways we don't fully understand. Generational trauma is carried in stories, unspoken expectations, and emotional patterns that are passed down, shaping how we respond to the world. Jan Mark explores how generational trauma has impacted you, helps release inherited stress, and creates new, empowering narratives. Healing is not about erasing the past; it's about breaking cycles and reclaiming your story in a way that feels true to you.

  • Acute Inpatient Psychiatry Background
Having developed most of his career in acute inpatient psychiatry, Jan Mark has learned to hold space for folks who are extremely dysregulated and disconnected from themselves. This experience has equipped him with the skills to meet you wherever you are in your journey, helping you piece together aspects of your life and your story to increase self-awareness and create a space for growth, insight, and connection.

"I will listen and encourage you to share anything and everything on your mind. I genuinely believe that you have the answer you are looking for within you. I will empower you to seek out those answers and connect with your inner self. Using the creative arts, along with talk therapy and psychotherapeutic techniques, we will create a safe space for self-expression to explore unresolved conflict and gain a greater understanding of self and autonomy."
