Carly Caprioli is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board-Certified Music Therapist who creates supportive, client-directed spaces where individuals can explore healing through both verbal and creative forms of expression. With over 10 years of clinical experience and specialized certification in Analytical Music Therapy, Carly brings a unique integrative approach that combines creative arts with evidence-based techniques to meet clients where they are. She particularly enjoys working with individuals who are committed to their healing and open to creative outlets of expression and inner exploration, witnessing clients who enter therapy not knowing what to expect and gradually discovering what they needed. No musical or creative skills are necessary to actively participate in her sessions.

Her therapeutic approach is humanistic with a client-directed and person-centered focus, grounded in the belief that therapy is driven by the development of meaningful relationships. Carly incorporates various therapeutic modalities, theories, and techniques that meet her clients' immediate needs, understanding that sessions may not always entail music-making. Her aim is to meet you where you are, exploring both verbal and creative forms of expression that resonate with you to delve deeper into the issues at hand. As a certified Analytical Music Therapist, she specializes in examining the depths of one's internal psyche and exploring unconscious material through musical or arts-based interventions, bringing unconscious material to current awareness. She may also incorporate mindfulness, embodiment, and somatic exercises to assist in deeper reflection.

With Master's level training in music therapy and continuing educational pursuits to strengthen her clinical work, Carly has witnessed how music and the creative arts offer alternative ways of processing, communicating, relating, and healing. Her experience includes working in medical settings where she has assisted patients and their families navigate the stress of inpatient and outpatient care, promoting healthy coping strategies, reducing stress, managing pain, processing medical trauma, and offering bereavement support. She is familiar and comfortable working alongside healthcare professionals and understands the unique challenges of hospitalization for patients, family members, and siblings alike.

Outside the therapy room, Carly enjoys playing piano and guitar (sometimes she gigs!), spending time by the beach, and relaxing with cozy video games or favorite TV shows and movies. Alongside her work as a therapist, she values her role as an educator and the opportunity to share knowledge with others.

  • Music as Connector and Healer
Music brought meaning, joy, and purpose into Carly's life from childhood—from her parents serenading her to sleep on guitar to putting on performances for her family. She witnessed how music bridged connection, provided validation, enriched memories, and welcomed creative freedom of expression. Her discovery that music could build community, foster human connection, and empower authentic self-expression intensified when she provided music for a mass created for families with children who have special needs and later shadowed a music therapist at a children's hospital.

  • Analytical Music Therapy Specialist
Carly is certified in Analytical Music Therapy, a specialized modality that explores the symbolic use of music and one's inner life through music-centered experiences. This unique approach uses music to deepen personal insight, examining the depths of one's internal psyche and exploring unconscious material. As a trained analytical music therapist, she acts as a supportive guide in promoting self-awareness and a stronger sense of self.

  • Medical Trauma Expertise
Working in medical settings, Carly has supported patients and their families through the stress and trauma of hospitalization, terminal diagnoses, and loss. She is effective in promoting healthy coping strategies, reducing stress, managing pain, processing medical trauma, and offering bereavement support. She is also familiar and comfortable working with healthcare professionals who struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic to rebuild self-esteem, identity, and resilience.

"My mission is for my clients to gain an enriched sense of empowerment and self-awareness when dealing with all aspects of life. I embody a collaborative approach, so my clients know they are supported and not alone in this process."
