Professional Philosophy
I believe that every person holds the potential for growth, healing, and change when given the right tools and support. I use art as a therapeutic tool to assist clients in exploring their emotions, fostering a deeper self-understanding, and to build meaningful insight. Through encouragement, positive reframing, and creative expression, I aim to help clients recognize and access the strengths they already carry within themselves. Therapy is your space, and my goal is to meet you where you are and help you move toward where you want to be.
“Creativity itself doesn’t care at all about results - the only thing it craves is the process. Learn to love the process and whatever happens next happens.”
― Elizabeth Gilbert
Personal Background
My experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings as well as a college setting has allowed me to support people through everything from crisis to long-term growth. These experiences help me meet clients where they are, whether they're just starting to explore therapy or navigating big life transitions. My approach is grounded, flexible, and focused on helping each person build tools that will work for them.
AREAS OF FOCUS
All of us here at START address the mental health areas of stress, trauma, and anxiety in our practice. We apply these three topics to unique, specific challenges that our clients are going through. I also offer specialized treatment in the following areas:
College Students
College is a period of major life transition, self-exploration, and growth. With its many unique challenges, students can often feel overwhelmed and dysregulated. I focus on supporting college students through the challenges of identity, independence, and emotional growth during this pivotal time by utilizing creativity and a strengths based approach.
Anxiety and Emotional Regulation
Many adults experience emotional ups and downs that can feel overwhelming or hard to manage. I help you build the tools for managing your emotions, understanding triggers, and feeling more in control during life's stressful and challenging moments.
Mindfulness
I incorporate mindfulness into my work to help clients become more present, grounded, and aware of their thoughts and emotions without judgment. Whether through breathwork, creative practices, or grounding techniques, I can support you in building a stronger connection to yourself and your inner calm.
